A Basic Employment Contract with Restrictive Covenants is a standard employment agreement that includes clauses designed to protect the employer’s legitimate business interests after an employee leaves the company. In addition to the usual terms — such as job title, pay, working hours, and holiday entitlement — it contains restrictions that may prevent the employee from sharing confidential information, soliciting clients or staff, or working for a direct competitor for a specified period after employment ends.

Restrictive covenants can be enforceable if they are reasonable in scope, duration, and geographical area, and if they protect a legitimate business interest such as trade secrets, client relationships, or goodwill. Courts will not uphold restrictions that are overly broad or unfairly limit an employee’s right to work. Each covenant should be tailored to the employee’s role and the nature of the business to ensure it is proportionate and legally valid.
