You must contact your line manager as soon as possible on the first day of your absence, ideally before your normal start time. You should explain the reason for your sickness and how long you expect to be off. If your absence continues, you must keep your manager updated and provide fit notes when required.

If your absence levels become frequent or reach the company’s trigger points, you may be invited to a Sickness Absence Review Meeting. This is not disciplinary but is designed to discuss your health, identify support options, and set attendance improvement goals. Continued absence without improvement may lead to formal action under the Sickness Absence Management Procedure.
